A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye causing blurred vision. The lens allows light to pass through and to the retina, a light sensitive tissue in the back of the eye, which then processes the information to the nerve cells and up to the brain. If the lens is blurred from a cataract, then images will appear blurry. Cataracts can grow larger and disturb vision as you age, therefore getting a comprehensive eye examination will allow you to prevent and treat cataracts.
