About Us

A Family Business

My name is Mike Quail and I started the business in 1986 as Q-Bros, alongside my brother Barry Quail. It started as a small business with a bobcat and a mini excavator cleaning barns, digging pools and many other small excavation jobs.

In 1988 I scaled down and kept the business going as a hobby while I was an owner operator for a trucking company, but in 2005 I started back up full time as (Quail Construction). We took on small excavation jobs, digging foundations, building driveways, installing septic systems, building retaining walls (both from natural rock and concrete blocks), final property grading, ditching, demolition and debris removal.

Quail Construction is mostly owned and operated by myself; I work alongside my son Mitchell Quail. Mitch works part time with the company as an operator/ labourer. Mitchell is currently finishing grade 12 and plans on attending college for the next 2 years. Also my daughter Jesse Quail works part time in the office or on the job site as a driver or labourer if required. We also rely on a couple of handpicked subcontractors to assist with jobs when needed. They are tops in their trades and we wouldn't trust our name with them otherwise.

We are a family owned and operated business who thoroughly enjoy what we do. We try to go above and beyond to keep our homeowners and contractors happy. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority. Most of our work comes from word of mouth and we have a very loyal group of clients that we work for, without them we could not do what we do.

We operate from a great location on 2.5 acres in Melanchthon Township, Dufferin County, located in Shelburne on the 4th line south of 17 side road. There we house our office, shop and all our equipment. In our yard we keep on hand some materials such as gravel, top soil, landscape rocks etc.

In the winter months we do all our own maintenance, equipment repairs and painting, as we take a lot of pride in the performance, appearance and reliability of our equipment. Without it we can't do our job.

No two jobs are the same; we take each experience, learn from it, and grow as a company. On your next job, let us put our experience to work for you. We may not be the biggest company but one thing our clients have learned - we're BIG on service and customer satisfaction!
